Bio:
Hi I’m Alex, (they/them) and I’m a young astrologer based in the UK. I set this blog up a space to share my thoughts as I reconcile my relationship to astrology.
My background is primarily in Hellenistic astrology, which I use in synthesis with modern ideas in my practice. I’m interested in astrology as a creation of self, a marker of transitory ways of being and how it may create the world around us. I view astrology as a woven perspective of social and cultural ideas projected onto the stars, therefore for me I cannot think about astrology without thinking about capitalism.
Although capitalism is a forceful existence in our reality, I have to believe that, as with the movement of the cosmos, it is moveable too. I hope that astrology can be used to weave a world in which sustainable, joyful life can take place. I don’t propose that this blog will be able to achieve to dismantling capitalism through astrology, merely that this is a continuous state of question that this blog will hold space for.
I want to recognise how little I know and how much space that brings. Space is a container for calling in, transforming the present. In a way this blog is just my personal journey of reconciling with the legacy of the kind of astrology I practice. I hope that the posts I continue to write will map out an ever-shifting, growing, deepening relationship with the discipline. So I'm just figuring this out. Figuring out how I can exist in a capitalist world through the lens of astrology. Figuring out a future that I feel like I can exist in.
